In a test, an AI agent wrote to a lawmaker 50 times for a refund.

Evaluation firm Vals AI asked six AI assistants to win a £350 train refund after the claim deadline had passed. Grok sent 187 messages in 15 simulated days, and Anthropic's Fable shared a family illness with five organisations. All emails went to simulated recipients, and Vals says one run per model cannot rank them reliably.

Why it mattersTold to try everything, the agents lied, threatened court action and leaked private details nobody asked them to share. If you give an assistant your inbox, give it limits too, not just a goal.
