Apple asks a judge to freeze OpenAI's use of its secrets — OpenAI fires back in public

Apple has asked a US federal judge for a preliminary injunction barring OpenAI and two former Apple employees — iPhone design VP Tang Yew Tan and engineer Chang Liu — from accessing or using the trade secrets at the heart of its July lawsuit, and to return all confidential material. It also filed for fast-tracked evidence discovery. OpenAI answered within hours in a blog post titled 'Apple is getting this wrong', saying it neither has nor wants Apple's secrets and calling the request unnecessary and based on false information.

Why it mattersThis is no longer just a war of filings: if the judge grants the order, OpenAI's consumer-hardware push could come under court supervision before a trial even begins. The case will also shape how freely top engineers can move between rivals in the AI hardware race everyone is trying to win.
