Apple says its AI is approved in China, with a test due this month.
Apple chairman Tim Cook said on Thursday in Shanghai that Apple Intelligence has won approval in China. A test version arrives later in October with live translation, writing tools and photo clean-up, but no smarter Siri. Apple built its Chinese model with support from Alibaba, whose Qwen model is part of the approval.
