Anthropic's new small model costs 90% less than last year's.
Anthropic released Claude Haiku 5.5 on Wednesday, its cheapest and fastest small model. Requests under 100,000 tokens cost 90% less than Haiku 4.5, at $0.10 per million input tokens. Developer Simon Willison found a stingier tokeniser eats about 1.25 times more tokens, trimming the real saving.
