OpenAI's legal AI searches 230 million pages of American law.
OpenAI released Astra for Law on 17 September, a legal version of its newest model. It searches an index of 230 million legal pages and scored 54% on a legal research test. Only selected law firms have it now, and access for other companies comes later.
Why it mattersLegal research is expensive, and cheaper research changes what a small client can afford. But a wrong citation in court costs a lawyer far more than a wrong chat answer.
