Gemini Robotics 2: one AI now drives a humanoid's whole body
Google DeepMind unveiled Gemini Robotics 2, its first model that controls a full humanoid robot — legs, torso, arms and fingers — under a single learned policy, letting robots walk, crouch and manipulate objects while reasoning through tasks. A companion planning model, ER 2, breaks jobs into steps and can coordinate several robots, and is already open to developers through the Gemini API.
Why it mattersWhole-body control has been a key missing piece for useful humanoids. Putting it behind an API moves general-purpose robots from lab demos toward real workplaces and homes.
