Google's new weather model now refreshes its forecast every hour.
Google DeepMind released WeatherNext 3 on 3 September and put it into Search, Maps and Gemini. It reads live satellite data and forecasts at 5 kilometres, five times sharper than last year's model. Google says rain forecasts are up to 50 percent more accurate a day or more ahead.
Why it mattersThe weather line in your phone's search results is now written by a neural network. Grid operators also get wind and sun figures at turbine height to plan power output.
