SpaceX wants to borrow $40 billion to buy Nvidia's newest chips.

SpaceX is in early talks to raise $40 billion of debt for Nvidia Vera Rubin chips, the Financial Times reported. Apollo Global Management would lead the deal, with $10 billion in bank loans and $30 billion in bonds. Talks are early and could collapse, and any deal would close next year.

Why it mattersThis would be one of the largest debt raises ever made just to buy AI hardware. The AI build-out is moving onto borrowed money, which bond investors can withdraw.
