The record labels just bought into the AI image company: Universal, Sony, Warner and EA are all in Stability's $76 million round
Stability AI, the company behind Stable Diffusion, raised $76 million in a Series B announced on 25 August, taking its total raised to $232 million. The valuation was not disclosed. The investor list is the story: Universal Music Group, Sony Music Group and Warner Music Group — the three majors — alongside Electronic Arts, AMD Ventures and Pacific Alliance Ventures. All four entertainment companies had already signed co-development partnerships with Stability rather than plain licensing deals: Universal and EA in October 2025, Warner in November. The money goes to its creative production product suite, its applied research, and a professional services arm that builds tools with studios directly. Chief executive Prem Akkaraju called the round 'an affirmation of our vision where generative AI empowers every producer, musician, and storyteller.' Stability spent much of the last three years in copyright litigation: it largely prevailed against Getty Images in the UK and is still defending a parallel case in the United States.
