An Indian renewable-power group has placed a binding order for 9,000 of Nvidia's newest racks — and a US customer has already booked the first batch
AM Intelligence, set up by the people behind the renewable-energy producer Greenko Group, has placed a binding order for roughly 9,000 Nvidia Vera Rubin NVL72 rack-scale systems, to be delivered in the first quarter of 2027 and installed at an AI facility in Hyderabad. It is one of the first orders in Asia for the Vera Rubin generation. The company describes Hyderabad as the opening phase of a plan to build a gigawatt of compute-as-a-service capacity across India, the United States, Finland and Malaysia, behind more than eight billion dollars of capital spending, with a stated target of five gigawatts by 2030. Reports differ on how much power the first Hyderabad phase will draw. A US customer has already committed to buying the initial capacity.
Why it mattersMost of the sovereign-AI announcements of the past two years have been memoranda of understanding — statements of intent with no delivery date. This one is a binding order with a quarter attached, placed by a company whose parent builds power plants rather than software, which is the part that has actually been scarce. Note also who is first in the queue for the output: an American customer. India is buying the machines and the electricity, and at least at the start, some of the capacity is being sold back out to the same market that already has plenty.
