Google Search will now watch flight prices for you and book the hotel — the conversation ends at a booking, not a list of links

Google added trip planning and booking to AI Mode, its conversational search surface, on Thursday 27 August 2026. You can now ask it to track a fare — 'track these flight prices for me' — and it sets up an alert across more than 300 partner airlines and travel sites, emailing you when the price moves; that feature is live in more than 180 countries and territories. Hotel booking arrives inside the same conversation: AI Mode surfaces options with reviews and details, and you finish the transaction through partners including Booking.com, Expedia, Marriott, Priceline, Hilton, IHG, Choice Hotels, Hotels.com, Trip.com and Wyndham. That part is rolling out in the United States in English over the coming weeks. A third feature shows flight and hotel prices in loyalty points or miles rather than currency, launching with Alaska, Hawaiian, American, Choice, Hilton and Wyndham, with Accor, Flying Blue, Hyatt, LATAM and Lufthansa's Miles & More to follow. Google is explicit about the ambition: AI Mode as a travel agent rather than a search box.

Why it mattersTravel is where agentic search gets tested first, because the task is bounded, the money is real and the comparison work is exactly what people hate doing. The interesting shift is not the booking button — it is that the ranking that used to be a page of blue links is now a recommendation inside a sentence, with the reasoning invisible. Ten hotel partners are named; the ones that are not named still exist. Worth remembering when the answer arrives as a suggestion rather than a list.
