A middle school AI course is spreading to seven American states.
Carnegie Mellon University said on Thursday it is taking its middle school AI course nationwide. It has reached about 1,700 students so far and aims for 15,000 over three years. Lessons cover how machine learning and computer vision work, not only how to prompt.
Why it mattersMost school AI plans teach pupils to use the tools, not to understand them. Knowing how a model decides is what lets a student argue with it.
