Anthropic's model mapped a third of Venus from 30-year-old radar.

Anthropic said on 1 September that its model trained a neural network on old NASA radar scans. The new map resolves features down to two kilometres instead of ten, with 25 percent better heights. Anthropic published it free of charge before two planned missions fly to Venus.

Why it mattersMission teams choose which volcanoes and plains to photograph from maps like this. It shows AI can pull new science from data that has sat unused for decades.
