Anthropic's draft listing shows a loss bigger than its revenue.

Anthropic's draft prospectus reports an $80.7 billion net loss for the first half of 2026. About $72 billion of that is an accounting charge on convertible notes, not cash spent. Revenue reached $16.3 billion, up from $1.1 billion a year earlier, and the listing is expected in November.

Why it mattersThe loss looks alarming but mostly reflects how Anthropic raised money, not what it spends running. Two customers supply about a fifth of its revenue, so its growth rests on a few contracts.
