Missouri opened Google's AI to 1.1 million pupils at no cost.

Google and two Missouri education agencies signed a statewide deal announced on 8 September. It covers more than 1.1 million pupils and nearly 100,000 teachers across schools and colleges, at no charge. Every district and college still decides for itself whether to switch the tools on.

Why it mattersA state buying one company's AI for every classroom sets the default for a generation of pupils. Teachers and parents who want a different tool now have to argue against a free one.
