AI security job ads nearly quadrupled as US security hiring shrank.
Recruiting firm CyberSN counted 235,786 US cybersecurity job ads from January to September, down 26.4% on last year. Ads for AI security engineers rose 268%, while ads for hired hackers who test defences fell 46%. In September, 20% of all security ads mentioned AI, the highest monthly share since early 2025.
Why it mattersIf you work in security, the growing demand is for people who can protect AI systems. The report counts job ads, not hires, and does not say whether AI caused the wider drop.
