OpenAI's fast decision API is open to all but trails smaller rivals.
OpenAI opened its Decisions API, a fast service for multiple-choice questions, to all customers on Thursday. It now handles images and voice apps, and charges only for input, at 10 cents per million tokens. On two independent rankings, though, OpenAI's model placed eighth and fourteenth, behind startups such as Liquid and TypeSafe.
Why it mattersIf your app sorts tickets or flags content, each call can now take a tenth of a second. Test several decision models on your own data, since the rankings disagree.
