Microsoft read 8 million Copilot chats to show it does not copy books.
Microsoft asked a New York judge on 4 September to end the authors' copyright case before trial. Its expert found 24 matching book passages across 8.2 million Copilot conversations, and none for 202 of 212 books. Judge Sidney Stein has not ruled, and the same court hears the linked cases against OpenAI.
