Anthropic put the training it gives its own staff on a public site, free, and it does not ask you to log in

Anthropic opened Claude Academy on 20 August at academy.claude.com. It is a structured course library rather than a documentation dump: more than twenty courses arranged into four learning paths that run from someone who has never used a chatbot to a developer shipping on the API, sitting inside a wider library of tutorials, worked examples and recorded sessions. Everything is free, and you can start without signing in — an account only buys you progress tracking and completion badges you can put on LinkedIn. Two of the courses give a sense of the framing: "AI Fluency: Framework & Foundations" runs about four hours across fourteen lessons, and a separate thirteen-lesson course is devoted to what the models can and cannot do. There are product-specific tracks for Claude.ai and Claude Code, and separate rollout guides written for administrators introducing the tools across an organisation. Material is available in several languages, Japanese among them. The teaching is built on the internal framework Anthropic uses to onboard its own employees, and its bias is towards habits rather than prompts — the recurring instruction is to verify in proportion to the stakes.

Why it mattersTreat the obvious caveat as read: this is a vendor teaching you its own product, and a course on "AI capabilities and limitations" written by the company selling the capabilities is not a neutral source. What makes it worth an hour anyway is the shape of the thing. Most free AI training is a feature tour that ages out in a month; a structured path that starts at "you have never used one of these" and ends at the API is unusually rare to find at no cost and with no signup wall, and the frameworks for judging when to check a model's output transfer to any tool, not just this one. For teachers, this is the most practical item here — you cannot set a sensible classroom rule about a tool you have not sat down with, and four hours is a realistic amount of time to find before term. For anyone job-hunting, the completion badges are minor, but the four-hour fluency course is a defensible thing to have done. Read it alongside a critical source and you have a decent start.
