Nvidia rival Tenstorrent raised $1.5 billion for its AI chips.

AI chip startup Tenstorrent, run by veteran chip designer Jim Keller, raised $1.5 billion on Monday. The deal values it at $6.2 billion, up from about $2.6 billion in late 2024. The company says the money goes to mass production and shipping its Galaxy AI servers at scale.

Why it mattersMore well-funded rivals to Nvidia could bring cheaper AI computing over time. Tenstorrent also licenses its chip designs, so its technology may end up inside other companies' products.
