A model trained only on ancient Greek is restoring broken papyri.
The Austrian Academy of Sciences and Mistral trained Apollo on 600 million words of historical Greek. In a blind test, 20 specialists rated its repairs as good as human work 77% of the time. The academy presents Apollo in Vienna on Wednesday and plans free access for scholars.
