The New York Times reports that Kenya's essay writing business has shrunk to almost nothing in two years. At its peak about 40,000 people in Nairobi wrote papers for overseas students, earning 40 to 70 dollars each. The work left is editing AI drafts by hand so university detection software does not flag them.
