AI bug hunting helped push the Postgres 19 database to November.

AI bug hunting helped push the Postgres 19 database to November.

The team behind PostgreSQL, a widely used free database, now plans to release version 19 on November 19. About eight to ten features were pulled, partly because AI reviewers found dozens of small flaws late in testing. Developer Peter Eisentraut says the code predates AI coding tools, and the pulled features should return in version 20.

Why it mattersAI review raises the quality bar faster than volunteer teams can fix what it finds. Software you rely on may ship later, but with fewer hidden bugs.
