OpenAI answered Anthropic's price cut 90 minutes later.
OpenAI released GPT-6 Sol and Luna on Tuesday, shortly after Anthropic launched Opus 5.5. Sol costs two dollars per million input tokens and Luna costs ten cents. Both land at roughly half the price of the models they replace.
