Meta and Sierra proposed one sign-in rule for all shopping agents.

Meta and the customer-service firm Sierra published a standard on Tuesday for how personal agents sign in to businesses. Walmart and other retailers signed on, and a shopper chooses whether an agent gets guest, read-only or full access. The draft is due later this month, and neither OpenAI nor Anthropic has joined.

Why it mattersIf your agent can log in and buy, the sign-in rules decide what it may see and do. One big retailer already blocked Meta's agent, so without a shared standard your agent stays locked out.
