A mathematician says OpenAI asked him to erase a co-author.

NYU mathematician Tristan Buckmaster says OpenAI pressured him over a proof of a famous fluid equation. He says OpenAI's Sebastien Bubeck asked him to drop an Anthropic co-author, then asked why he would ruin his career. Bubeck calls that false, and OpenAI says its agents never saw the unpublished work.

Why it mattersMachines now compete with people for credit, and no rules exist yet for sharing it. Who gets named on a discovery decides careers, funding and what counts as human work.
