New Jersey fined an AI data centre over 62 unpermitted generators.
The state environment department fined the developer DataOne more than $1 million on Wednesday. Each of the 62 gas generators is rated at 1,982 kilowatts, far above the level that needs a permit. DataOne calls them temporary, rejects the order, and may keep them running while it applies.
