Thousands of AI agents sifted mouse brain data in 32 minutes.
OpenAI, startup PerturbAI and Scripps Research ran 1,946 AI agents on a large map of mouse brain cells. Each agent studied one switched-off gene, read related papers and proposed explanations. The team estimates people would need months, but no lab has tested the agents' ideas yet.
Why it mattersTools like this could help scientists choose which experiments to run first. But the results are hypotheses, and the months-of-work comparison is the team's own rough estimate.
