Alibaba bundles its work agents into QwenWork — an AI office suite in public beta

A day after launching Qwen3.8-Max, Alibaba opened a public beta of QwenWork, merging three of its workplace AI agents — QoderWork, Wukong and MuleRun — into one product with a web version and a desktop client. The suite runs on the new Qwen3.8 models, targets both individuals and companies, and reports say it will be unified under a 'Qwen Office' brand led by DingTalk chief Chen Yusen.

Why it mattersDesktop AI office agents in China passed 60 million monthly visits in June, and Alibaba is consolidating to compete with Tencent and ByteDance. The office suite — not the chatbot — is becoming the main battleground for putting frontier models to work.
