Caltech is giving math teams $2 million of AI compute for a weekend.

Caltech will run a 40-hour mathematics hackathon from 30 October, where a hundred teams attack open problems. Anyone can apply, alone or in a team of four, and organizers judge only mathematical ability. Teams share more than $2 million in frontier-model credits, and travel costs are covered. Applications are read as they arrive, and the organizers want the list closed by the end of September.

Why it mattersFrontier models have started closing problems open for decades, but few outside the big labs can try them. If you work in mathematics at any level, this is an unusual door into that hardware.
