A chatbot in Missouri can no longer call itself a therapist

Missouri's SB 1019 health law took effect on 28 August. It bans an AI system from claiming or advertising that it provides therapy. The penalty is 10,000 dollars for a first violation and 20,000 for each one after.

Why it mattersSimilar laws regulate what the bot says; this one regulates what the company says about it. A regulator can check that by reading the store listing, with no complainant or proof of harm.
