Kimi K3 goes open weight — the largest release in history
Moonshot AI published the full weights of Kimi K3, its 2.8-trillion-parameter flagship, on July 27. At roughly 1.5 terabytes, it is the largest open-weight model ever released, free to download for anyone.
Why it mattersFrontier-scale AI can now be self-hosted, studied, and fine-tuned by anyone with the hardware. Benchmarks still place K3 behind the top closed models, but the gap between open and closed AI just narrowed sharply.
