OpenAI gives US university labs a free year of its biology AI.
OpenAI opened a free plan on Thursday for academic labs at US universities. Each lab gets up to 30 ChatGPT Business seats for 12 months, plus GPT-Rosalind, its life sciences model. A lab head applies for the whole lab and passes an identity and safety review. OpenAI gave no deadline, and the plan excludes API access.
Why it mattersBiology labs that cannot afford AI subscriptions can now test a specialist model on real research. Labs outside the US are not eligible yet, so watch for an expansion.
