Anthropic's Claude spent a month speeding up protein design software.

Anthropic said Claude, its own model, rewrote more than 30 open-source biology models in under four weeks. The code now runs about four times faster, and one protein design run fell from $10,000 to $150. Anthropic published the optimised code on GitHub so any lab can use it.

Why it mattersDrug discovery is often blocked by compute bills rather than by ideas. A hundredfold price cut moves this work from big labs to small ones.
