Walmart opened its checkout to AI agents that shop for you.
Walmart launched Agent Gateway on Wednesday, letting approved AI agents search its store and buy things for you. The agents never see your payment details or purchase history, and normal returns cover their mistakes. Next month each agent gets its own profile, with per-order approval or a spending limit.
Why it mattersWalmart already works with the big chatbots, while Amazon has started blocking shopping agents. Which store you use may soon depend on where your assistant is allowed in.
