Slack's default model is now Claude, and Salesforce's sales work has been packaged as 37 skills you run from inside the chatbot

Salesforce and Anthropic announced an expanded partnership on 26 August called Claudeforce. Two things move at once. Claude becomes the default reasoning model across Salesforce's own products — the Atlas engine behind Agentforce, plus Agentforce Vibes and Agentforce Coworker — and the default model inside Slack, served through Amazon Bedrock so it runs within Salesforce's own trust boundary for regulated customers. Going the other way, a plugin called 'Salesforce in Claude' puts the CRM inside Anthropic's app: 37 prebuilt sales skills, including meeting preparation, deal-health review and pipeline review, wired to live Salesforce data through MCP servers, APIs and command-line tools. It is in pilot now, with an open beta planned for September. Salesforce says its internal Slackbot already accounts for 8.1 million hours of annualised productivity gains, more than double the previous quarter.

Why it mattersEnterprise software spent two years promising to be model-agnostic — plug in whichever AI you like. This is the opposite bet, made by the largest business-software company there is: one model, wired in as the default at every layer. For customers that removes a choice, and it ties a very large amount of corporate workflow to a single supplier's roadmap and pricing. The more interesting half is the second direction. If your CRM lives inside the chat window as a set of skills, the CRM's own interface stops being where the work happens — which is a strange thing for a company that sells interfaces to help build.
