Moonshot's new Kimi trails only three models on an independent index.
Chinese lab Moonshot released Kimi K3.1 Pro on Friday and promised its full weights by 4 November. Artificial Analysis scored it 55, behind only Claude Opus 5.5, Claude Sonnet 5.5 and Meta's Muse Wonder. It costs a third less than K3, and Moonshot removed hacking data from its training.
Why it mattersAn open model this close to the top means companies can soon run near-frontier AI on their own servers. It also puts pressure on the prices of paid Western models.
