Arm's new mobile graphics core draws part of each frame with AI.
Arm, whose designs sit inside nearly every smartphone, unveiled the Mali G2-Ultra NX on Tuesday. It is the first Mali graphics core with neural accelerators built into the units that draw pixels. Arm claims 24 percent higher benchmark performance and upscaling that reaches 120 frames a second.
Why it mattersA phone can render a smaller picture and let the chip guess the rest, which saves battery. Tencent and Unity are already testing it, so games will follow the silicon.
