India's largest IT company is building a gigawatt AI campus.

Tata Consultancy Services said on Saturday that its HyperVault unit will build an AI data centre campus in Hyderabad. HyperVault and its partners are putting 700 billion rupees, about 7.4 billion dollars, into 264 acres of land. The site will reach one gigawatt in phases and is aimed at hyperscalers renting high density computing.

Why it mattersIndia rents its AI computing abroad today, and this campus is a bid to keep that spending at home. A gigawatt is roughly what a large city draws, so power and water will decide whether it works.
