OpenAI's new model nearly matches its best at a fifth of the price.
OpenAI released GPT-6.1 Sol on Tuesday, an upgrade priced at a fifth of its flagship Astra. Input costs $2 a million tokens against Astra's $10, and one science benchmark task cost $5.47 against $23.80. It also scored 2.2 points above Anthropic's Claude Opus 5.5 on an automation test.
