Eighty British performers want a law against voice cloning
The Save Our Voices Now campaign launched on 28 August with an open letter and a petition. Voice actors and stage performers want everyone given a legal right over their own voice. The campaign says three seconds of audio is now enough for a convincing copy.
Why it mattersIn most countries a voice is not property; copyright protects the recording, not the person. The same right decides whether a scam call in your mother's voice is a crime.
