Nvidia will give British labs $250 million in computing for AI safety.
Nvidia said on Wednesday it will donate computing worth $250 million to UK research on AI agent safety. That means $50 million of cloud computing a year for five years, run from UK data centres. Labs at Oxford, UCL and Imperial get a share, while providers and terms are still to be agreed.
Why it mattersSafety research has lagged because universities rarely get the computing power big labs use. The work targets secure sandboxes, the kind of cage that test agents escaped this summer.
