An AI outscored the best human at this year's coding olympiad.

Nvidia says it ran a 550 billion parameter model live at August's International Olympiad in Informatics. It scored 535.4 out of 600, above the top human's 498.27 and far above the gold line. The model faced the same time limits, submission platform and internet restrictions as the students.

Why it mattersCompetitive programming was the last clean scoreboard where a human still held first place. That fell in a live contest, not in a paper written months afterwards.
