An AI trained for $8,000 beat Stratego's greatest player.

Researchers at Carnegie Mellon, MIT, NYU and Stanford published Ataraxos in Nature on 30 September. It beat Pim Niemeijer by fifteen wins to one across twenty games, with four draws. Training used sixteen Nvidia chips for a week, a five-hundredth of DeepMind's earlier effort.
