Apple's rebuilt Siri needs an iPhone 16 and a place in the queue.
Apple released iOS 27 on Monday with a rebuilt Siri that reads your texts, mail and calendar. The assistant also acts inside apps, sees what is on screen, and writes drafts for you. It needs an iPhone 16 or a 15 Pro, and you sign up in settings first.
Why it mattersThis is the first assistant on a phone that can act across your own apps. If your iPhone is older than last year's, the update lands without the part that matters.
