Nikon stripped a microscope video prize over generative AI.
Nikon disqualified the winner of its Small World in Motion contest on 9 October under its generative AI rule. The clip claimed to show faulty airway hairs from a sick child, and specialists said the cells looked wrong. Winner Ning Xu of Tsinghua University says AI only coloured the images and did not create them.
