Cloudflare open-sources 'Cloudflare OS' — a workplace where every employee gets an agent

Cloudflare released Cloudflare OS on Tuesday: an open-source platform for running AI agents, internal apps and shared work on a company's own Cloudflare account. Agents start with zero access and gain narrowly typed permissions through a 'Gatekeeper' layer that records every resource they touch; non-technical staff drive them from a browser workspace, and organizations choose which models power them. Cloudflare says thousands of its own employees have been using the system since May.

Why it mattersAfter a year of agent security incidents, the notable part isn't the workspace — it's a permission model where agents are locked down by default, shipped as open source anyone can inspect. It also escalates the fight over who owns the 'agent layer' at work, where Alibaba's QwenWork, Genspark's office suite and Y Combinator's qm are all converging.
