An AI-built worm hijacked WeChat accounts through an unanswered call.
The security firm Calif said on Tuesday that AI found a flaw in WeChat's calling code. AI then wrote a working exploit in two days and a self-spreading worm in another week. Tencent patched the app in August and no real attacks were found.
Why it mattersBuilding this kind of attack once needed a funded team and many months of work. That bar just dropped, so updating your messaging app quickly matters more now.
