Google DeepMind released AlphaGenome Atlas on Tuesday, a free database of predicted DNA variant effects. It covers 9 billion possible changes, about thirty times the AlphaFold database. Academics can search it free online, with commercial access coming on Google Cloud.
Why it mattersMost disease-linked DNA sits outside genes, where nobody could guess what a mutation does. A ready table of predictions lets small labs skip years of expensive screening.
