The US ordered all civilian agencies to remove DeepSeek software.

The Department of Homeland Security on Monday ordered US civilian agencies to remove products from Chinese AI lab DeepSeek. The ban also covers other companies' products built using DeepSeek's technology, and it bars future purchases. The order rests on a 2018 supply chain law and appears in the Federal Register on Tuesday.

Why it mattersIf you sell software to US agencies, the model running inside it now matters as much as the product. DeepSeek's cheap open models sit inside many tools, so expect buyers to ask what powers yours.
